Recently, several researchers have found that netspeak is improving our grammar. What does this mean for you and I? It means that if you don’t have a blog, AIM or an e-mail address, you aren’t getting enough of the exciting grammar practice you need. In order to write better, you must first write a lot. This blog is my simple attempt to do just that and improve my writing by simply putting it somewhere on The Internet. This same Internet is somehow able to hire strangers to read over everything I write and critique me on it, for better or worse. While this has its advantages, and I am one to give a complete stranger the benefit of the doubt, I have yet to see an remarkable improvement in my writing since I got on The Internet oh so long ago.
I put my faith in you, dear reader, to fix my mistakes, enjoy what I write, and leave feedback in the form of comments. One of the worst things a blog could ever suffer from is a lack of encouragement to go on. Its like being a recluse on the worlds largest network of people, no one wants to be that alone.
Further writings here will probably be less directed at you and more recollecting my thoughts and travels. Currently, I am about to embark upon a yearlong endeavor to teach English to Russians. Rather than force them to come here, I’ve decided it would be much better to go and give them a visit. This way I can always say “what happens in Russia, stays in Russia.” Except for the small fact that this blog will probably be about most of the things that will stay there.
